Litter of Slovak Pups at RSPCA Brighton

8 remaining pups  from the litter of 10 Slovakian Rough Haired Pointers are currently at the RSPCA in Brighton.

Scroll down the page and choose page 14.

The pups are from the mating of sire Rosetinted Octavious (Roulis) x Silver Nova Aischa who is an Austrian import. The owner had previously reported that they were having problems with their accommodation. There is a very grave danger of things like this happening if a substantial waiting list is not achieved before breeding. The RSPCA add is marketing the pups as 'looking for experienced, active homes and will not be suitable for first time owners'.

I hope these pups find their forever homes asap. And that anyone thinking of breeding a Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer in the near future will hold off until they have an over full waiting list.

Just a few weeks ago these poor pups were still being marketed at a full price of£800 each. Is that the best way to look for the best homes for these dogs?

Edit: Just heard The Breed Club contacted the RSPCA on the 6th and tried to help, but no help was wanted as 6 had been rehomed.

  1. Just like to say that we were very lucky to be able to adopt one of the puppies from Brighton RSPCA. She is utterly gorgeous and has so much personality! She has fitted in so easily into our family and everyone we meet is fascinated by her! Can't believe how lucky we are!

  2. We have also rehomed one of these puppies, he is an absolute star and has fitted in to our family very well and utterly loves our other dog. As posted above, people are fascinated by him, and always start by asking whether he is a Weimaraner. I would love to hear from anyone who has rehomed any of his siblings.

  3. Welcome to Slovak world Sadlers and Paynes! I'm so pleased these pups have found good homes. Our friend Jo, who also has a slovak, is a dog trainer based in Brighton. She has offered her services for puppy classes. I believe this was passed on to the RSPCA. Hope you got the info? If not you can contact Jo via her website: http://web.mac.com/schoolfordogs/School_for_Dogs/Welcome.html
She knows slovaks very well and has a wonderful 4 year old slovak called Grey.

  4. Hi, I will look Jo up - I don't think this info was passed on to us. Thank you... Hello Payne family! Would like to get in touch with you but not sure how we would go about it without posting email addresses on here?

  7. Hi, I have been taking my pup Siegfried to Jo's puppy socialisation classes for the last 3 weeks and she has been great. I have met 2 of Sieg's sisters and 1 of his brothers there too which is lovely. Thanks so much for offering your help, I will email you and hopefully will be able to get in contact with the Sadlers.

  8. My husband and I have just found this article - we bought the other two pups from the litter and collected them on the 10th June. We had no idea of the plight of the rest of their brothers and sisters and did not see the rest of the puppies when we collected ours. Now we realise why. I am so upset and if I had known their plight we would have probably taken more! There were some really beautiful puppies in the litter.
Our two are doing fabulously well - loved and adored and very special boys!

  9. I'm so pleased that the pups have all found good homes. If you are in the Brighton area, I think it a great idea to take up Jo's offer of puppy training because she knows slovaks inside out. Do get in touch with her via: http://web.mac.com/schoolfordogs/School_for_Dogs.
